Nafisa Nazrin's

better late than never

 Assalamualaikum w.b.t

Today I would like to share my insight on the second week's topic of Sustainable Development.

As we know, basic needs such as food and water wastage have become common habits in our society, especially among Malaysians. These bad habits become more severe during the pandemic of Covid-19, where the government announced the first Movement Control Order (MCO) in March 2020.

Did you all remember, after the MCO announcement, some Malaysians went on panic buying from shopping malls to the regular mini market. Many necessities & foods like bread, eggs and tissues run out due to panic buying.

This scenario is a nightmare for the poor family as they went to the market and find out the shelves is empty. Nothing was left behind.

Moreover, many have lost their jobs while some of them had their salaries cut due to quarantine leave. This situation is very sad and needs to be taken care of not only by the government but by society itself.

Islam has taught us to be moderate in any situation whether in daily expenses and consumption of daily necessities.

As Allah says in the Holy Quran (7:31):-

O Children of Adam! Dress properly whenever you are at worship. Eat and drink, but do not waste. Surely He does not like the wasteful.

In this Surah, Allah also mentioned about corruption. Thus,  as Muslim, we should refrain ourselves from making mischief on the earth.

Do not spread corruption in the land after it has been set in order. And call upon Him with hope and fear. Indeed, Allah’s mercy is always close to the good-doers.

The corruption here means the damage mankind do to this earth like wastage of natural resources, urban development and so on.

Back to our main intention. What is the relation between panic buying and food wastage that I mentioned?

According to SWCorp Malaysia (Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation), the household sector contributes 44.5 per cent of Malaysia's daily food waste, which totals 16,667.5 tons.

About 24 per cent of the food waste, or 4,005 tons, is still edible, enough to feed 2,970,000 people for three days.

SUCH A HUGE AMOUNT OF WASTE which we can actually give to the needy people out there.

However, as I learned this week's topic, I figure out that when we, as a community realizes the role of Islam in our daily life. We do not dare to waste anymore. Islam has set a systematic guideline for its believers to be followed. For example, the usage of water during Wudhu'.

Let's take a look at this video!

In short, we may save the world for the new generation, IF only we started to realize that we play the biggest role not only for the environment but also for the ummah.

Before I end my sharing today, I will attach a video that will make you understand the Principles to Sustainable Development in Islam.

Wallahu'alam.

 Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

Dear beloved readers,

It's been a long time since my last entry where I was showing off my digital photo masterpieces 👀 but.. nevermind. It's a part of my study journey though, and like always, I hope every single piece (lol) of my journey through ODL (Online Distance Learning) will inspire you.

Remember that we're in this together!

Alright. Back to my main intention of posting an update today. Based on the title above, what do you think I will share? (I will give you a second or two to think about it).

Times up!

Yes, I would like to share with you something greeny, calming, windy yet concerning matters in today's world.

Sustainable Development

What is Sustainable Development?

Sustainable Development is the idea that human societies must live and meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Meanwhile, the simpler definition of Sustainable Development is a way of organizing society so that the environment and natural resources could be preserved for the long term.

For your information, sustainable development is not just a way to spread awareness to society about the importance of preserving the flora and fauna, but it is how the human, the environment and the economic interconnected with one another to achieve the ultimate goals of Sustainable Development which called 17 SDGs. Thus, we can live not only in a better world but also manage to provide a better life for every people.

What is 17 Sustainable Development Goals (17 SDGs)?

The 17 goals of Sustainable Development was proposed by the United Nations (UN) with its mission to balance our economic, environmental, and social needs, and allowing prosperity for now and future generations.

The goals are as following: -

In order to achieve these 17 goals, everyone must play their roles: involving an individual, government, non-government, public associations and others, contributing their ideas and efforts to achieve the goals by exploring on how to develop Sustainable Development for the long term period.

It can be by looking for possible consequences when making a decision on certain aspects. This is because if we were taking one wrong step, it could lead to destruction and chaos in society.

In conclusion, each party has their respective responsibilities towards sustainable development. Therefore, as individuals who love the environment and as well as loving the comfort of the modern technology era, we must be the driving force or catalyst for a better change of the world. By making one small change such as spreading the awareness of environmental importance towards society, we are able to achieve the 17 goals of Sustainable Development suggested by the United Nations (UN).

Welcome to my art zone!

Today is the perfect day to share with you some of my masterpieces. These photos are a part of my assignment but seriously I enjoyed the process while making them. It taught me patience to achieve some good results.

Let me explain a little bit about the assignment. Firstly, I have to prepare for 3 different photographs which had their own requirement.

For the first photograph, I need to edit a picture of me in an impossible situation.

Tadaaaa! This is the result of the first photograph after following the outline provided.
My impossible situation is sitting on earth without respiratory aids from any source of oxygen 🤣

Actually, this photo was inspired from a scene in the music video of a popular girl group 🙊
Make a guess!

Next, my second photograph should be a collage art with a memorable photo collection of mine.

The photos of me picnicking with my high school friends before the pandemic of Covid-19 become worse in Malaysia.

I was in Cameron Highlands for my last short vacation with my family.
Note: the guy beside me is my brother. His height is around 180. If you want to recruit him for modeling, PM me 😂

The last creative picture I was assigned to do is the graphic design with any purpose.

I decide to make quotes for the last photograph since most of the time quotes have been leaving an impact on my self-esteem. Thus, I want to share some of my favorite quotes through these editings.

That's all I am sharing today guys. I pray that every one of you has a bright future ahead after spending your precious time looking at my amateur skills of editing. May Allah bless you.

Btw, do comment on anything you would like to add or critic. I am more than welcome to receive such feedbacks for my improvement in editing.

Thank youuuu :)))

Salam the end-of-semester break guys! How was your semester break?  Did you do all your assignments? 😆 Of course 'yes' right?

Actually, I don't know what type of content I want to share with you today but suddenly I got an idea to share my happy news with all of you.

During the semester break, I had joined an Acrostic Poetry Contest (unintentionally) which is conducted by BEDSA. It was open to all KOEDians, maybe some of you had joined it too. There were other contests as well but I did not join it because I had mistaken the deadline (read my previous post).

And surprisingly I win first place in the contest among other TESLian (Fyi, the 2nd and 3rd runner-up was from TESL. I'm shocked like how do I beat TESLian while I am not that good in English lol) but remembering the number of unexpected sustenance Allah s.w.t may give to us, I was like okay and said Alhamdulillah.

The idea of joining the contest appeared while I was doing my assignments around 2 a.m. (I used to sleep early during my high school *good old days* 😌 btw).

Since the contest was not stricken the rules to use only the "jpeg" format for the poetry but other formats as well. I used my editing skills (still an amateur) which I learned from Youtube and TikTok and maximized the knowledge I had to create a poetry-video. So, It will give an impact on the reader or perhaps the judges 😬

Here is the poetry-video I made:-

Note: Many of us see Tiktok as a bad platform for sharing and watching videos but honestly I found that Tiktok is very useful If you subscribe and only search for beneficial content.

I made it using many editing platforms such as VN (Vlog Now), Powerpoint (for typing effect), and Canva (for the template).

How is it? Is it okay? If you're the judge what comment would you give to me and how much will you rate the creativity of this poetry-video I made (from a scale of 0 to 10).

It's okay, just be honest. I will receive critics and compliments with an open heart.

Hi guys! How are you today? I hope everything is fine.
Next week, I mean starting tomorrow Monday, I will be having a semester break for a week.
But honestly, semester break does not feel like a break. It is a lecture-free week to give students sufficient time to complete their assignments.

By the way, today, I am going to share with you my new hidden talent hahaha. Try to guess!

(The model in these pictures is my brother.)

Yes, the answer is Mobilegraphy (although you can already guess it through the post's title).

What is Mobilegraphy?

Mobilegraphy is a combination of the words 'mobile' and 'photography'.

credit to: https://twitter.com/igersmalaya/status/639771681980940290

Anyone can do mobilegraphy with their phone. It is not necessary to have an expensive phone model to have such talent. The most important part is you have the interest to start the hobby.

Actually, I just started doing mobilegraphy yesterday 😂 because I was interested to participate in a competition organized by BEDSA but turned out I pass the registration deadline. Plus, yesterday was the winners' announcement day.
Not my rezki to join it, I thought.

Anyway, I would like to share with you a platform, where you can sell your masterpieces online and get some side incomes. I got this information from one of my Facebook friends, and I can confirm that it is legit and trusted. You guys can try it but you have to go through some photo evaluation before you can start selling it as stock photos.

So, here is the website of the platform I mentioned earlier, 'Shutterstock'.

How to sign up as a contributor?

Firstly, register like you usually do.

Then, you have to verify your email.

Next, the website will ask for your home address for mailing purposes, since you will be getting some side incomes, you are required to do so.

Finally, you are ready to introduce your masterpieces to the world.

As I told you earlier, there will be a photo evaluation before submitting your works.

The basic conditions you must fulfill before submitting:-
  • The pictures must be at least 4 megapixels.
  • It is recommended to send your works in JPEG format.

I am new to mobilegraphy, so I am kind of nervous to join something as big as this platform but for sure I will update my blog if I got my first buyer 😁

That's all my sharing for today. If you are fond or want to try something new like this and nobody to share with, do share it with me. I will reply to it as fast as possible. You may ask my opinion on your new hobbies. I am more than grateful if you guys do so.

Lastly, have a nice day everyone 🤞❤

Hi readers!

Today I will be sharing a short - 1-minute video on 'How to translate Arabic without typing'!

As a non-Arabic speaker myself, I find it very hard to understand every single word whenever a native Arabic speaker tries to make a conversation with me or during Arabic subject lectures (not forget to mention that almost every lecturer speak very fast that I barely catch up what they say, end up, I try to change my study method whereas I study the slides first whenever we are having Arabic classes).

Thus, I want to share with you all an app that I think most of us have it on our phone (especially Android) but never know how it's working (at least one of my friend did not know, that's why I am making this video for her).

I hope this video will help those who have a similar problem to my friend in finding a good and instant app for their language subject.

Before I close the segment, here are a few apps that I used to facilitate my learning that is free. Some of these apps can be used offline as well.
  • Reverso (App version : Reverso )
  • Al-Maany (App version : Al-Maany (English - Arabic)
  • MyKamus

Have a nice day 💕

Today is the day I restarted my blogging journey after leaving it for 6 years. I used to own a blog when I was in year 6 during my primary school. The interest to build a blog of my own was influenced by my senior, Sister Nisa (She was a year older than me). I was impressed with her skills in decorating her blog and sharing tutorials for newbies. That was when I started to blog myself.

Now, since teaching has been my passion, I have to expose myself to technology more than before. I gained new experiences and knowledge day by day that I have never learned before throughout my first semester year. And today I need to build a blog for Educational purposes or many called Edu Blog. Edu Blog is a platform for teachers and students to communicate and share their thoughts and journey throughout teaching and learning.

Thus, all thanks to my lecturer for introducing me to such a great way to communicate well with the students during Remote Teaching and Learning. Thank you, Sir!

Being a teacher requires a lot of patience. Hence, my interest in this field sparked much later than my friends because I used to have a bad temper. It's all started when I received so much attention and supports from my teachers during high school, It's better to say that they had influenced me to be a teacher too. I used to be a kid that lives freely. I have no future goal, I learned in school with only the intention to get good grades that I did not know where I will be heading to after that.

By then, I started to find my inner-support to find my true self, what I have been desired for, and what activity I put many efforts for. Only to find out that, teaching makes me feel at ease. Using my creativity in teaching makes me worn-out thinking about the ideas but when the works are done, I am satisfied with every piece of it. Later, I knew I was born to be a Teacher. It sounds cheesy but that is the reality I have gone through.

Therefore, my dearest readers,

If you are stressing out about what you want to become in the future,
What field you want to explore during your tertiary education,
and When will you achieve your goals. Is it when you becoming older or earlier than that?

The answer to all of the questions above is on you. What is your passion?

If you cannot think of any career you wanted to pursue, you may use 5W 1H thinking hats (What, Where, When, Why, Who & How) to determine your passion.
You need to allow yourself to answer this type of question rather than run away from it just because you want to avoid the stresses from being pressure.

Ask yourself:-

" What activity I love the most?"
" Where can I gather information about this career?"
" When will I achieve my target?"
" Who will be supporting me to reach my goals?"
" How can I achieve it?"

Or you can use the tips below on "How to Find your Passion?".

You may have a copy of this poster via this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FYFWxzEDvCWulH3JFiMNGK2AGEUzY2XP/view?usp=sharing

In a nutshell, not all of us know the exact time of being successful, all we need is to be grateful for what we have and love the things we work for. Some may be successful by achieving their goals and dreams at such a young age, but some may achieve all of that when he or she was older just like inspiring KFC's founder, Colonel Sanders's story behind the success of his Fried Chicken's Recipe. He was rejected many times by every restaurant he went to share his secret recipe with, but in the end, he succeeded and owned more than thousands of KFC franchises around the world.

Thus, my beloved readers,

Always believe in yourself regardless of the field you are interested in. Every sector has its benefits. There is no such thing as "this field is better and easier to get a job than this". Remember that Allah is the Giver of sustenances.

Wallahu'alam.
